2023 Perth Mint Kookaburra

The 2023 Perth Mint Kookaburra features a striking new design as well as .9999 fine purity. A laughing kookaburra, the largest member of the kingfisher species, is synonymous with the Australian Outback.

• Obverse: Features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.

• Reverse: Depicts an image of two kookaburras. Also included in the design is the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA," The Perth Mint’s "P" mint mark, the 2023 year-date, as well as the weight and purity. Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the coin's design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

The Silver Kookaburra Series

The Australian Silver Kookaburra series from The Perth Mint began in 1990 and is the longest-running bullion program from the mint. Each year has a different design of a kookaburra on the reverse that adds to their collectibility. Today, this series is offered in three sizes: a 1 kilo Silver Kookaburra, 10 oz Silver Kookaburra and 1 oz Silver Kookaburra in addition to several versions that are released each year with special privy marks.

Authentic Feature

This coin includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

Presentation & Mintage

This Australian Kookaburra 2023 1oz Silver Bullion Coin is presented in an individual protective acrylic capsule & comes with its own individual bullion bag.

No more than 500,000 of these coins will be released. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of 2023, after which The Perth Mint will ‘declare’ the total number made.
