1 oz Silver Coin - 2023 Australian Superpit - Perth Mint
Historic gold source
Discovered during the 1890s, the Golden Mile near Kalgoorlie was once said to be the richest square mile of gold reserves in the world. Most of its original workings were swallowed up during the 20th century with the creation of an enormous open cast pit that is still expanding. To this day, the Super Pit continues to produce remarkable quantities of gold.
Visible from space
The coin portrays an overhead view of the Super Pit, a hole so large it is visible from space. Extraordinary detailing highlights the pit’s stepped slopes and the roadways used by haul trucks. As well as the inscription ‘SUPER PIT AUSTRALIA 2023 1oz 9999 SILVER’, the reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Authentication Feature
This coin includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
